While we’re keeping Baby Girl’s actual name a secret until she makes her earthly debut, I have known for quite some time what she will be called here at Peacoat.
Pigtail!
This comes from a nickname my mom called me when I was little: Laura Lulubelle Pigtail. And her dad called her the same when she was little. So I always knew I would call my precious angel girl Lulubelle Pigtail, too. That’s quite a mouthful, so here on the blog she’ll only be Pigtail.
I’m getting to know her each day as we grow together. And no matter the state of her actual hair – light and thin like mine or thick and dark like her dad’s – Pigtail suits her.
I can't wait to meet her and to really, truly, present her to you.

This is, in fact, a picture of my painted belly. The Gorilla is a very talented artist, and we love to spend time in our art room together. He paints, I write, there is usually something great on the ipod.
We tried to have consistent Tuesday Night Art Nights, but these days we just catch a night here and there when we can.
Over the last couple of months, The Gorilla has been working on a piece for Pigtail’s new room (which will be revealed soon, you can see a piece of it in the background here). One night we got silly – no wine involved, I promise! – and somehow there was brush to belly action. I couldn’t see what he had painted until after he took the pictures. Much giggling over that happy hour.

I cannot WAIT to meet Little Miss Pigtail. And Andy will LOVE this photo...!

When I opened this post, I thought, "Is that absolutely LAURA'S belly?" And yes! Yes it is. This is very, very fun.
Lulubelle Pigtail sounds like a grand start to what is sure to be a swirly, twirly, saturated-in-fun life for BGT. I also cannot WAIT to meet her! (but yes I can. she needs to cook a little bit longer, so you take care of yourself, you hear?)

I love that picture! Lulubelle Pigtail sounds like the perfect name for a children's book- you can write and your hubby can illustrate!

I could hardly catch my breath over the picture! My Dad used various iterations of Lulu (from Little Lulu, the comic strip), Belle, pigtail, and willie. Who knows where the others came from? Pigtail Willie, Lulubelle Pigtail, and so forth. He would have loved our little Pigtail.

well if you insist on the belly shot, might as well give it a face.

Oh, Laura! I think it was when we were in elementary school when we last saw each other (at an MHS Homecoming parade). It's SO nice to "get to know you" again from your blog. I sure miss the days when I could sit and write like you do. Need time, rest, and inspiration and have been lacking with the first two. My writing actually stopped when I got married. Sounds like we have a lot in common as adults and it's great reconnecting with you, if only through the internet. Hope to see you soon!
